The Captain Frank George Oliver Memorial Scholarship

The Captain Frank G. Oliver Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving US Army family member.  After serving an initial tour in Germany, Frank volunteered for flight school and shortly thereafter joined the 60th Aviation Co of the 1st Aviation Brigade in VN flying Cobras and Medevac  helicopters.  On the evening of 3 September 1972 he was flight lead on a mission to evacuate wounded Americans from a mountain outpost near Da Lat.

When others broke off due to low visibility, Frank pressed on to complete the mission.  His aircraft went down in the bad weather.

Frank was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, 5 Air Medals and the Purple Heart. Frank left behind a wife and year-old son.  He was the last West Point graduate to fall in Vietnam.
