Army Scholarship Foundation Announces Scholarship Awards for 2017-2018 Academic Year

Scholarship Awardees

The Army Scholarship Foundation announces the award of 126 scholarships to children of US Army soldiers and veterans and spouses of active duty enlisted soldiers.  Scholarships for the 2017-18 academic year were awarded to deserving Army family members as follows:

The Captain Jennifer Schafer-Odom Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Ms Jillian Coleman of Virginia Beach, VA.  Jillian is the spouse of Sergeant Sean Coleman, who is stationed at Ft Story, VA with the119th Inland Cargo Transfer Company.  Jillian is a freshman at the Medical Career Institute at ECPI University of Virginia Beach majoring in Nursing.   

Jennifer Shafer Odom grew up in Knoxville, MD.  She graduated from the US Military Academy in 1992.  As an Army aviator she served in the US and Europe, where she supported both Kurdish refugee and Bosnia missions.  With the 204th Military Intelligence BN at Ft Bliss, TX in 1999, her aircraft was reported missing while flying counter drug missions over Columbia, South America. She and her crew were lost.

The Lieutenant Scott Love Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Maddison Thyer. Maddison’s father is Major Joshua Thyer stationed with the US Embassy in Tanzania.  Maddison will enter BYU in the fall.  First Lieutenant Scott Love was killed in action in 2006 while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Scott Love was an “Army brat” who was born at Fort Campbell, KY and attended high school in Huntsville, AL.  He graduated from Florida State University and enlisted in the Army in 1999.  In 2003, he attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, and was subsequently assigned as a platoon leader with 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry at Baumholder, Germany. His unit deployed to Kuwait in 2005 with Scott’s platoon assigned to Task Force 1-35 Armor when he was killed at Ar Ramadi, Iraq.  

The Sergeant Andrew Topham Memorial Scholarship to Sierra Mullin of Nashua, NH.  She is the daughter of retired Master Sergeant Edward Mullin.  She is a sophomore at the University of New Hampshire in Durham.   

Sergeant Andrew Topham grew up in Randolph, Massachusetts.  He was a highly decorated soldier, awarded the Bronze Star for service in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.  In addition he earned the Army Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Ribbon. 

The Lieutenant General Jack Costello Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Ms. Lisa Corsi of Oceanport, NJ.  Lisa is the spouse of Sergeant Michael Turner assigned to the 11th Military Police at Ft Hood, TX.  Lisa is a senior majoring in Nursing at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ.  LTG Jack Costello was born in Pottsville, PA and commissioned upon graduation from the Citadel.  He served in the 82d Airborne Division and in Vietnam.  He commanded the 2d Battalion, 59th Air Defense Artillery, the 35th ADA Brigade, 32d Army Air Defense Command, the ADA School and Ft Bliss, TX, and the US Army Space & Missile Defense Command.  Upon retirement, he joined the Raytheon Company where he led Network Centric Systems Strategic Planning and Business Development operations and the company’s Improvised Explosive Device Defeat efforts.

The Colonel Urey Woodson Alexander Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Ms. Nelcy Avila of Waldorf, MD. Nelcy attended Wiesbaden American HS in Germany and is a junior at Salisbury University studying Education.  She is the daughter of Chief Warrant Officer 5 Fernando Avila-Gonzalez.   CW5 Avila-Gonzales is assigned with the Army Priority Air Transport Command at Andrews AFB.  Colonel Urey W. Alexander was commissioned from West Point in 1940. During WWII he commanded the 386th Field Artillery Battalion throughout the war, deployed the battalion to France and fought in Belgium, Holland, the Battle of the Bulge, and into Germany in 1945. He advised the Greek Army in their civil war with the Communists in 1950, and served as US Military Attaché to Poland.  He commanded the 35th Artillery Group in Germany and retired from the faculty at the Army War College in Carlisle.  Upon Army retirement, he served as Business Manager of Dickinson College School of Law. 

The Lieutenant Keirn C. Brown Memorial Scholarship is awarded to Leticia McKee of Killeen, TX.  She is spouse of Master Sergeant Isaac McKee who is serving with 2d Battalion, 8th Cavalry at Ft Hood.  Leticia is a junior at University of Texas Arlington majoring in Nursing. Lieutenant Keirn C. Brown grew up in Niagara County, New York, graduated from the University of Rochester and was called to active duty with his National Guard unit in 1940.  He participated in every major European Campaign including the invasion of North Africa, Anzio, and the Colmar Pocket and Saarland.  He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant before earning a battlefield commission.  After the war, he became a member of the Foreign Service and served around the world as a diplomat and senior State Department executive.  

The Lieutenant Colonel J. Allan Green Memorial Scholarship is awarded to Ms. Stephanie Ramirez of Ft Sill, OK.  Stephanie is the spouse of Staff Sergeant Benjamin Ramirez who is stationed with the Fires Center of Excellence at Ft Sill.  Stephanie is a senior at California University of PA, majoring in Sports Management. Lieutenant Colonel J. Allan Green joined the Army as a private in 1944 during World War II.  He later completed Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Armor.  He served in the Korean War, where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart.  He also served in Vietnam.  LTC Green retired from the Army in 1972 after 28 years of service.  He entered the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin and upon completion of his studies was ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church.

The Perot Family Scholarship was awarded to Ashley Hilton of Ft Leavenworth, KS.  Ashley is the spouse of Sergeant Matthew Hilton who is stationed at Ft Leavenworth.  She is a sophomore at Kaplan University majoring in Medical Technology.  The Perot Family and the Hillwood Corporation, which is a Perot Family Enterprise, are strong supporters of  Army families.  They are dedicated to assisting our military and to promoting educational opportunities for Army family members.

The Staff Sergeant John F. Kusior Memorial Scholarship is awarded to Elyse Gaccione of Allen, TX.  She is the daughter of former Captain Marcus Gaccione.  Elyse is a sophomore at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in Health.  SSG John F. Kusior served in the US Army Air Forces during World War II in the Central Pacific Theater from 1941 to 1945. He attended Washington University on the GI Bill and graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering. He worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 32 years until he retired as District Engineer for Metro-East Department in 1989. After retirement, he worked as resident engineer on construction projects for cities and transit district in the Metro-east area of Illinois where he served as Chairman of Caseyville Planning and Zoning Commission for 12 years. 

The 173d Airborne Honorary Scholarship to Tara Clark of Southgate, MI who is the daughter of former Staff Sergeant Brian Clark.  SSG Clark served with the 1st Bn, 503d Infantry of the 173d Airborne Brigade in Vietnam.  Tara will enter Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA to in the fall to study Chemical Engineering.

The KBR Honorary Scholarship is awarded to Clara Chang of Chesapeake, VA.  Clara is the daughter of former Major Danny Chang. Clara is a sophomore at St Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN majoring in Global Studies.   KBR is headquartered in Houston, Texas, and is a leading global engineering, construction, and services company supporting government services, energy, petrochemicals, and civil infrastructure sectors.  The company operates in locations including Australia, Africa, the UK, Asia and the Middle East.  

The BAE Systems Honorary Scholarship was is awarded to Victoria Zak of Colorado Springs, CO.  Victoria is the spouse of Specialist Michael Zak who is with the 4th Infantry Division at Ft Carson.    She is a senior at University of CO Denver, where she is majoring in Psychology.  BAE Systems is headquartered in Arlington, VA.  They provide support and service solutions for defense, intelligence, and civilian systems, and design, develop and manufacture a wide range of electronic systems and subsystems for both military and commercial applications.  They also design, develop, produce, and provide service support of armored combat vehicles, artillery systems and intelligent munitions.

The Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems Scholarship is awarded to Sydney Schroeder of Lakewood, WA.  She is married to Corporal Joshua Schroeder who is with the 7th Infantry Division at Ft Lewis. She is a senior at Pierce College in Lakewood, LA majoring in Veterinary Technology.  Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, headquartered in Redondo Beach, California, is a premier provider of manned and unmanned aircraft, space systems and advanced technologies critical to our nation’s security. 

The USAA Honorary Scholarship was awarded to Miranda Navarro of Chubbuck, Idaho.  She is the daughter of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Anthony Navarro, with 4th Sustainment Command in Kuwait.  Miranda is a sophomore at Seattle University majoring in Business.  Since 1922, USAA has proudly served and supported military members and their families.  

The Association of the US Army Audie Murphy North Texas Chapter Honorary Scholarship was awarded to Chrissherra Mills of Converse, Texas.  Chrissherra is the 

daughter of First Sergeant  & Mrs. Christopher Mills.  1SG Mills is assigned to 8th Army in Korea.  She is a junior at Baylor majoring in Biology.  

The General Dynamics Corporation Honorary Scholarship to Megan Huffman of Tooele, UT, the daughter of former Specialist Steve Huffman.  Megan will enter the University of Utah to major in Nursing.    General Dynamics is located in Falls Church, VA, and is a market leader in business aviation, land & expeditionary combat vehicles & systems, armaments and munitions, shipbuilding and marine systems, and mission-critical information systems and technology.

The Master Sergeant Neal Benson Elbit Systems Honorary Scholarship is awarded to Alina Burch of Waterloo, IA, daughter of retired Staff Sergeant Daryl Pollock.  Alina is a sophomore at the University of Northern Iowa, studying biology. This scholarship was established in honor of MSG Neal Benson, a former employee and US Army soldier.  MSG Benson enlisted during Desert Storm and served three combat deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq with Special Forces units.  He was severely wounded in 2007, but following a long recovery, returned to active duty for deployment to Iraq.  He serves as an inspiration  to all those who come in contact with him.  Elbit Systems of America is a leading provider of high performance products, system solutions, and support services focusing on defense, homeland security, commercial aviation, and medical instrumentation markets.  With facilities throughout the US, Elbit Systems of America is dedicated to supporting those who contributed daily to the safety and security of the US.  For a quarter century, employees of Elbit Systems of America have been entrusted with performing high-quality work knowing that it protects and saves lives.    

The Bell Helicopter Honorary Scholarship to Teliza Henderson of Youngsville, NC, daughter of retired Staff Sergeant Derrick Carroll, and a sophomore at UNC Greensboro majoring in International Affairs.  Bell Helicopter is headquartered in Ft Worth, TX, and was founded in 1935 as Bell Aircraft Corporation. It continues to set the pace for the industry and expand the scope of vertical lift. The Mary Kay Corporation Honorary Scholarship to Nikki Rigney of Ft Drum, NY.   Nikki is the spouse of Specialist Daulton Rigney who is stationed with the 4th Bn, 31st Infantry at Ft Drum.  Nikki is a junior at Eastern KY University in Richmond, KY majoring in Nursing. The Raytheon Company Honorary Scholarship to Denisa Kim.  She is the daughter of Master Sergeant Carlos R. Mercado of Camp Humphreys, South Korea, where MSG Mercado is serving with the 2d Infantry Division.  Denisa will enter Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA in the fall, and major in Chemical Engineering.  Raytheon, in Waltham, MA, is a technology and innovation leader in defense, government and cybersecurity solutions. Founded in 1922, Raytheon provides state-of-the-art electronics, mission systems integration, C5I (command, control, comms, computing, cyber and intelligence), sensing, effects and mission support services. 

Fluor Corporation Honorary Scholarships were awarded to eleven Army family member students.  For more than 100 years, Fluor has partnered with clients to design, build, and maintain many of the world’s most challenging and complex capital projects. Through its global network, Fluor’s more than 60,000 employees provide comprehensive capabilities and world-class expertise in engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and maintenance. Today, the company serves a global client base in the energy, chemicals, government, infrastructure, mining, power life sciences & advanced manufacturing sectors.  Under contract to the U.S. Army, Fluor provides military support services to the men and women of the Armed Forces who are currently serving in Afghanistan.

Fluor Corporation Honorary Scholarships were awarded to:

Tony Betton of Jonesboro, GA.   Tony is the son of Sergeant First Class (retired) Sheryl Betton of Jonesboro.  Tony is a junior at Georgia State University where he majors in Communications.

Frances Dean of Richardson, Texas.  Frances’ father is retired Sergeant First Class Darryl Dean.  She is a senior at the University of Georgia majoring in Public Health.

Brett Leasure of Korea.  He is the son of Captain William Leasure assigned to the 35th ADA Brigade in Korea.  He is a sophomore at Sam Houston State University studying Criminal Justice. 

 

Tymber Long of Lincoln, NE.  She is the daughter of retired Major Mark Long.  She is a junior majoring in Managerial Economics at Bentley University in Waltham, MA. 

Samuel Lopez of Kansas City, MO. He is the son of Sergeant Patrick Lopez assigned to the 2-158 Aviation at Ft Lewis, WA.  He is a sophomore studying liberal arts at New St Andrews College in Moscow, ID.  

Quinn Mooldyk of Danville, CA.  He is the son of Major Evan Mooldyk who died in Afghanistan.  He is a junior at the University of Arizona in Tucson majoring in political science.   

Alicia Morgan of Somers CT.  She is the daughter of Master Sergeant Daniel Morgan serving with 1st Bn 102d Infantry.  She is a senior at Southern Connecticut University studying Early Childhood.  

Kenndera Rediske of Ft Wainwright, AK, who is the spouse of Specialist Tyler Rediske, assigned to 3d Battalion 21st Infantry at Ft Wainwright, AK.  She is a junior at the University of AK majoring in Accounting.    

Lacey Rouse of Dimondale, MI.  She is the daughter of retired Staff Sergeant Jeffrey Rouse.  She is a senior at Central Michigan University, majoring in Therapeutic Research.

Daisha Smith of San Jacinto, CA.  She is the daughter of former Sergeant William Smith.  She is a sophomore majoring in Nutritional Science at San Diego State University. 

Orianna Smithson of Lewisport, KY.  She is the daughter of retired Specialist Daniel Smithson.  She is a junior majoring in Animation at Savannah College of Art and Design. 

Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund Memorial Scholarships were awarded to 60 students.  Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund is inspired by Colonel John “Johnny Mac” McHugh, killed in action in Afghanistan on May 18, 2010, leaving behind a family of five children.  The Fund’s mission is family—to give back through education to those who have given so much.  Scholarships were awarded to:

Jelton Alfonso of Fort Sam Houston, TX, who is the son of Sergeant Major Hector Alfanso. SGM Alfonso is stationed with US Army South at Ft Sam Houston.  Jelton is a junior at Texas A&M University majoring in Nutrition.      

Courtney Bonine of Elizabeth, CO, who is the daughter of CW3 Theresa Bonine, stationed at Buckley AFB, CO.  She will enter Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO.

Alexis Brown of Jacksonville, FL, who is the daughter of retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 Korry Brown.  Alexis is a sophomore at Florida State University majoring in Product Development.     

Sarah Chambless of Holly Pond, AL.  Her father, SSG Frank Chambless passed away from service connected disabilities.  She is a sophomore at the University of Alabama.  

Billie Clark of Lawrenceburg, KY, who is the daughter of former Specialist Tanya Clark Simms.  Billie will enter Eastern Kentucky University in the fall to study criminal justice.

Matthew Clark of Lawrenceburg, KY, son of former Specialist Tanya Clark Simms.  He is a junior at Eastern Kentucky University majoring in emergency medical care.

James Crayton of Offutt AFB, NE, who is the son of Staff Sergeant Paul Crayton stationed with US Strategic Command.  James will enter Macalester College in St Paul, MN this fall.

Olivia Crayton of Offutt AFB, NE, daughter of Staff Sergeant Paul Crayton stationed with US Strategic Command.  She is a sophomore at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, MT majoring in Environmental Science.

Nicholas DeLaRosa of Uvalde, TX, who is the son of former Specialist Robert DeLaRosa.  Nicholas will enter the University of Texas and major in Biology.

Brienna DiPietro of Matthews, NC, who is the daughter of former Specialist Frank DiPietro.  She will enter Furman University in Greenville, SC this fall.

Lisa Dube of Battle Creek, MI, who is the daughter former Sergeant Edward Dube. Lisa is a junior at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI majoring in radiation therapy.    

Asia Duncan of San Diego, CA, who is the daughter of retired Sergeant First Class Monica Asbill.  Asia will enter Howard University in Washington, DC this fall to study management.

Brandi Feehan of Louisburg, KS, who is the daughter of former Sergeant Thomas Feehan. Brandi is a junior at Kansas State majoring in Bioscience/Biotechnology.

Alyssa Fierro-Guzman of El Paso, TX, who is the daughter of former Private First Class Manuel Fierro-Guzman. Alyssa is a senior at the University of Texas El Paso majoring in Special Education.    

Haylee Gahr of Rowlett, TX, who is the daughter of former Specialist Christopher Gahr. Haylee will enter Arizona State University in Tempe in the fall to major in Biology.      

Dalton Goser of Jefferson City, MO, who is the son of retired Lieutenant Colonel Eric Goser.  Dalton is a junior at Rockhurst University in Kanass City, studying Business Management.

Sarah Heatherly of Cibolo, TX, who is the daughter of former Specialist Donald Heatherly.  Sarah will enter Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond to major in Nursing.  

Veronica Hodge of Cleveland, TN, who is the daughter of Captain Christopher Hodge.  CPT Hodge is stationed at Schofield Barracks, HI.  She is a sophomore at Lee University in Cleveland, TN majoring in English. 

Ellie Houseworth of Castle Rock, CO, who is daughter of former Specialist Sheryl Harris.  Ellie will enter the University of Colorado at Boulder to major in Economics in the fall.  

Casha Huizar of Austin, TX, who is the daughter of retired Sergeant First Class Charles Huizar.  Casha is a junior at Texas A&M majoring in Agricultural Education.  

Kelly Ingle of Plains, GA, who is daughter of former Specialist Robert Ingle.  She will enter Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL in the fall to study Education.

Elias Irick of Ft Eustis, VA, who is the son of Chief Warrant Officer 3 Jerry Irick stationed at Ft Eustis.  Elias is a junior at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA majoring in Engineering.  

Aaron Jackson of Ft Eustis, VA, who is the son of Sergeant Brian Cartwright stationed at Ft Eustis.  Aaron will enter Savanah College of Arts & Design to major in Cinematography. 

Jacob Jakovenko of Honolulu, HI, who is the son of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jason Jakovenko stationed at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, HI.  Jacob will enter the University of Hawaii majoring in Engineering in the fall.   

Cassandra Jennings of Lake Stevens, WA, who is the daughter of former Private Fred Jennings.  Cassandra will enter Central Washington University to major in Music Education.  

David Jewett of Miami, FL, who is the son of retired Lieutenant Colonel Rene Jewett.  David is a sophomore at UNC School of the Arts in Winston-Salem majoring in Dance.

Yenah Joe, is the daughter of Captain Joseph Joe who is serving with 36th Signal Battalion at Camp Walker, South Korea.  Yenah will enter UNC Chapel Hill studying Political Science.

Joshua Johnson of San Antonio, TX, who is the son of former Sergeant James Johnson.  Joshua is a junior at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, TX studying Music Education.

Kiah Johnson of San Antonio, TX, who is the daughter of former Sergeant James Johnson.  Kiah will enter Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, TX studying Music Education.

Avery Joy of Ft Leavenworth, KS, who is the daughter of retired Lieutenant Colonel Bradley Joy.  Avery will enter University of Alabama Birmingham and major in Biomedical Engineering.  

Faith Joyner of Carrolton, TX, who is the daughter of retired Sergeant First Class Demetrius Beasley.  She is a sophomore at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.  

Sarah Katsiyiannis of Carlsbad, CA, who is the daughter of retired Colonel Dean Katsiyiannis.  She will enter University of California Irvine to study Journalism in the fall.  

Alexander Kimmel of Robstown, TX, who is the son of retired Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Kimmel.  Alexander will enter the University of Dallas to major in Computer Science.

Bethany Kimmey of Tyler, TX, who is the daughter of former Captain Richard Kimmey.  She is a junior at the University of Arkansas majoring in Communications Disorders.

William Kimmey of Tyler, TX, who is the son of former Captain Richard Kimmey.  He will enter Texas A&M in the fall to major in Engineering. 

John Krichbaum of Canton, OH, who is the son of retired Staff Sergeant Paul Krichbaum. John is a sophomore at Malone University in Canton majoring in Nursing.    

Celena Krieg of Louisville, OH, who is the daughter of retired Sergeant First Class William Lawrence, who is deceased. She is a sophomore at Kent State University majoring in Nursing. 

Rayanne Kühner, who is the daughter of Captain Andre Luiz Kühner stationed with US Army Garrison Rhineland Pfalz, Germany.  She is a junior at Binghampton University in Binghampton, NY majoring in Nursing. 

Soo Lee of Ft Lewis, WA, who is the daughter of Sergeant Trent Daniel with the Warrior Transition Battalion, Ft Lewis.  She is a sophomore at Washington University majoring in Computer Science. 

Melissa Locey of Wilton, IA, who is the daughter of former Private William Locey.  She will enter Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids in the fall, majoring in Nursing. 

Jonathan Lovern of Blue Ridge, VA, who is the son of retired Staff Sergeant William Lovern. He is a junior at Roanoke College, in Salem, VA majoring in Creative Writing.

Allie Manchester of Wade, NC, who is the daughter of retired Sergeant Major Charles Manchester. She will enter Meredith College in Raleigh to major in Education & Psychology.  

 

Alexus McFarlane of Cameron, NC, who is the daughter of Master Sergeant Patricia McFarlane, serving with the 16th MP Brigade at Ft Bragg.  Alexus is a senior at UNC Greensboro majoring in Business.

Noreen Mohsin of Forest Hills, NY, who is the daughter of retired Lieutenant Colonel Raza Mohsin. She will enter the University of Pennsylvania in the fall to major in Economics. 

Luna Oriol of Wasilla, AK, who is the daughter of retired Lieutenant Colonel Shannon Oriol.  Luna will enter the University of Michigan majoring in Electrical Engineering.

Mason Perez of Junction City, KS, who is the son of retired Staff Sergeant Brian Brown. Mason will enter Texas A&M University in the fall majoring in Leadership. 

 

Katherine Peters of Ft Leavenworth, KS, who is the daughter of Major Stanley Peters, stationed at Ft Leavenworth. She will enter Texas A&M University in the fall majoring in International Relations.  

Jacob Peterson of Sharps Chapel, TN, who is the son of retired Master Sergeant Trevor Patterson.  Jacob is a junior at the University of Tennessee majoring in Music Education.  

Allan Piri of Blanket, TX, who is the son of Chief Warrant Officer 3 Andrew Piri, stationed at Dyess AFB, TX with the 111th Engineer Battalion.  Allan is a sophomore at West Texas A&M University majoring in Physical Therapy.  

Miranda Reed of Lascassas, TN, who is the daughter of Sergeant First Class Wendell Reed, stationed with the 45th CST in Smyrna, TN.  She will enter Middle Tennessee State University in the fall majoring in Early Childhood Education.    

Caehlen Roberts of Carthage, TX, who is the daughter of Staff Sergeant Kevin Roberts.  SSG Roberts was killed in action in Iraq while serving with the 2d Battalion, 506th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division.  Caehlen will enter Stephen F Austin University in the fall majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies.  

Katherine Schoenhals of Fairmont, NE, who is the daughter of former Sergeant Thomas Schoenhals.  She is a sophomore at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  

David Sobczak, Jr of Fayetteville, NC, who is the son of retired Master Sergeant David Sobczak. David is a junior at UNC Chapel Hill majoring in Journalism.    

 

Kimberly Sobczak of Fayetteville, NC, who is the daughter of retired Master Sergeant David Sobczak. Kimberly is a sophomore at UNC Pembroke.  

Kailee Southworth of Cameron, NC, who is the daughter of Master Sergeant Stephen Carmac who is stationed with Army Special Operations Command at Ft Bragg.  Kailee is a sophomore  at Baylor University in Waco, TX.    

   

Georgia Stenberg of Alexandria, VA, who is the daughter of Captain Adam Stenberg.  CPT Stenberg is stationed at Ft Jackson, SC.  Georgia is a sophomore at Bethel University in St Paul, MN majoring in Business.     

Lara Way of Martinez, GA, who is the daughter of retired Major Peter Way. Lara is a senior at Augusta University in Augusta, GA majoring in Biology  

Olivia Welch of Hoenfels, Germany, who is the daughter of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Michael Welch, stationed at Hohenfels.  Olivia will enter BYU – Hawaii in Laie, HI in the fall.     

    

Amber White of Dallas, GA, who is the daughter of former Specialist Misty White.  Amber will enter Kennesaw State in the fall majoring in Game Design & Development.      

Savannah Williamson of Chadbourn, NC, who is the daughter of retired Sergeant First Class Carl Gallagher. Savannah is a sophomore at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ.     

The Army Scholarship Foundation announced additional awards of 35 additional scholarships to deserving children of US Army soldiers and veterans and spouses of active duty enlisted soldiers.  Scholarships were awarded to:

Haleigh Bjorkman of El Paso, TX.   Haleigh is the daughter of Chief Warrant Officer 3 Peter Borkman stationed with 2d Battalion, 501st Maintenance Battalion at Ft Bliss.  She will enter D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY in the fall.

David Bradford of Clarksville, TN, is the son of retired Staff Sergeant John Bradford.  David is a senior at the University of Tennessee majoring in Sport & Electronic Media.

Ashley Bullard of Gonzales, TX, is the daughter of retired Sergeant First Class Jonathan Bullard.  She is a junior at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, TX.  

Cassie Burks of Wahiawa, HI.  Cassie is the spouse of Sergeant James Burks who is stationed with the 130th Engineer Battalion at Schofield Barracks, HI.  She is a sophomore at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN.  

Johanna Burr of Atlanta, GA, is the daughter of former Specialist Todd Burr.  She is a junior at Ohio Wesleyan University in Marion, IN majoring in Spanish and Creative Writing.  

Carissa Carlin of Humboldt, NE, is the daughter of former Specialist Keith Carlin.  She is a junior at University of Nebraska Medical Center majoring in Radiography.   

Keisha Deeds of Ardmore, PA, the daughter of Specialist Michael Deeds, who is deceased.  Keisha is a junior at Newmann University in Aston, PA.   

Nathaniel Dinkel of Alexandria, VA, who is the son of retired Lieutenant Colonel Paul Dinkel. He is a sophomore at Landmark College in Putney, VT studying Computer Science.

William Dyer of Newman Grove, NE.  William is the son of Sergeant Peter Matson with the 189th Transportation Company, NE NG.  He is a sophomore at Wayne State College majoring in construction management.

Tyler Ehrig of Bulverde, TX.  He is the son of retired Master Sergeant Bobby Ehrig.  Tyler is a junior at UT San Antonio majoring in Kinesiology. 

Taleah Foster of Fayetteville, NC, daughter of former Specialist Booker T. Foster. Taleah is a senior at NC Central University in Durham majoring in Nursing.  

Sara Gibbs of Harker Heights, TX, who is the daughter of Major Lexie Gibbs.  MAJ Gibbs is assigned to Headquarters III Corps at Ft Hood.  Sara is a senior at University of Texas majoring in Education.  

Michael Gilkerson of Bozeman, MT, who is the son of Captain Michael Gilkerson.  CPT Gilkerson is serving at Ft Bragg with Joint Special Operations Command.  He will enter Liberty University at Lynchburg, VA in the fall. 

  

Carolyn Holder of Wichita, KS, who is the daughter of Master Sergeant David Holder.  MSG Holder is 451st Sustainment Command in Wichita, KS.  Carolyn will enter University of North Texas to major in Laboratory Science in the fall.  

  

Joshua Joe of Korea.  He is the son of Captain Joseph Joe serving with the 36th Signal Battalion in Korea.  He is a junior majoring in Global Studies at UNC Chapel Hill.  

Amber Jones of St Louis, MO, who is the daughter of retired Sergeant Major Lawrence Jones.    She is a junior at Rockhurst University in Kansas City majoring in Physical Therapy.

McKayla Kraft of Whispering Pines, NC, is the daughter of retired Master Sergeant Ryan Kraft.  She is a junior at East Carolina University in Greenville majoring in Exercise Physiology.  

Dalton Krum of Mount Pleasant, IA, who is the son of Captain Sarah Jacobs. CPT Jacobs is stationed with the 185th Regional Training Institute in Johnstown, IA.  Dalton will enter Milikin University in Decatur, IA to study Music Business in the fall.  

Nicole Larson of Guyton, GA, who is the daughter of Chief Warrant Officer 5 Michael Larson. CW5 Larson is assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield, GA.  Nicole is a senior at the University of Georgia majoring in Exercise Science.  

 

Hailey Lewis of Houston, TX, who is the daughter of former Private First Class Pattrick Lewis. Hailey will enter Boston University in the fall to study Music Performance.  

Rachel Lopez of Moscow, ID, who is the daughter of Staff Sergeant Patrick Lopez.  SSG Lopez is assigned to 2-158th Attack Helicopter Battalion at Ft Lewis, WA. She is a senior at New Saint Andrews College in Moscow, majoring in Liberal Arts. 

  

Brooklynn Loposser of Sevierville, TN, who is the daughter of former Private First Class Leo Rumbaugh.  She is entering Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN in the fall. 

Asya Loring of Surprise, AZ, who is the daughter of retired Staff Sergeant Matthew Boucher.  She will enter Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, and major in Biology.  

Alexandra McDonough of Enterprise, AL, who is the daughter of retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 James McDonough.  She will study Psychology at the University of Alabama.  

 

Christian McReynolds of Hoover, AL.  He is the son of former Specialist Brian McReynolds.  He is entering Mississippi State University in the fall.  

Shayne Meyers of Fleming Island, FL, who is the son of Sergeant First Class Keith Meyers.  SFC Meyers is assigned to Ft Gordon, GA Public Health Activity.  Shayne is a senior at Florida Atlantic University majoring in Exercise Science.  

Olivia Nutall of Dallas, TX, who is the daughter of former First Lieutenant Derrick Nutall.  She is entering Florida A&M University in Tallahassee to major in Primary Education.

 

Devka Persaud of Vernon, CT, who is the daughter of former Sergeant Prethi Pesaud.  She is a junior at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA majoring in Mathematics.

Britney Rush of Lawton, OK, who is the daughter of retired Chief Warrant Officer Michael Rush.  She is a junior at Central Oklahoma University majoring in Forensic Science.   

Roni Sabish of Hubert, NC, who is the daughter of former Lieutenant Francine Sabisch.  She is entering Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC to major in Psychology.

Mariah Smith of Clarksville, TN, who is the daughter of retired Master Sergeant Yvette Smith.    She is entering the University of Tennessee to major in Chemistry.

Aubrey Snyder of Fowler, MI.  She is the daughter of retired Staff Sergeant William Snyder.  She is a sophomore at Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, MI majoring in Business. 

Korri Standifer of Tulsa, OK, who is the daughter of former Specialist Corey Standifer.  She is a senior at Oklahoma State University majoring in Apparel Design.

Charles Thompson of Forney, TX, who is the son of former Captain Roger Thompson.  He will enter Texas Tech University in Lubbock to major in Computer Science.

 

Ericka Westbrook of Lithia Springs, GA.  She is the daughter of former Sergeant Cynthia Murdock.  She is a sophomore at Spelman College in Atlanta majoring in Health Science.
